Here’s a recap of all the wonderful ba-doings:

- November 25th – The love of my life and I exchanged rings and signed our domestic partnership papers. We went on a mini-honeymoon to SD. Went to Sea World and ran through the rain. Stayed at the Sheraton Suites in Downtown SD and saw the most gorgeous view (my honey)… Walked around the harbor and looked at art along the harbor. It was wonderful!!

- December 5 – Presented Song’s Crepe Cafe in front of a skeptical funding panel. Our group nailed it! After the results came in, my business concept was rewarded #1 out of all the presentations. Our business plan is going to be turned in next week… We’ll see how the instructor and the SBI likes it! *crossing fingers*

- December 6th – had a fun crafting party at my house. It’s home made presents this year since me and the wifey are broke (and it aint no joke). Also, it gives us a chance to give a personalized touch to our presents! The event was filled with spaghetti, hooking, peppermint barking and construction paper. It “looked like a craft store threw up in our place” and it was well worth it!

- December 12th – Revised papers and studied for finals. Most importantly, I’m sitting in my honey’s sweater since I’m missing her a whole lot. She comes back from San Jose on Monday. I can’t wait!!!!!!

Feeling hungry? Instead of eating out… scrounge together food from my pantry and fridge. Night of drinking w/ friends? Flask w/ tequila in hand and I’m ready to go. Cute shirt? Look the other way. Free dinner at friends house? I definitely won’t deny it!

The market started at 8am and we needed to start setting up by 7am. I got ready as fast as humanly possible, jumped on the road from Hasley Canyon (near Magic Mountain) and I was at the Encino Farmer’s Market on Victory Blvd by 7:30. We set up really fast and were up and running on time… Watching the vendors around us, they were ready to go well before it even opened!  The taco stand next to us was grilling onions and vegetables before we even had the tables set.

When the booth was up and running the customers came right away. I would say there was only a 20 minute downtime between customer traffic. It was busy and people wanted crepes! It was great to see… People stuffing their faces with crepes and enjoying it!

Overall, I met some awesome vendors, got my taste of working in the open air and felt the rush of a hungry crowd. I loved it all! Some things I learned:

1. Sleep early the night before! (lot of socializing involved and standing up… need both the brain and legs to be fully functional)

2. Working at different markets require several permits. Be choosy on the market before opening shop to save time and money.

3. Make a checklist of things that need to be brought to the market. Wouldn’t want to forget anything!

4. Buy extra napkins and utensils to be prepared for an overly busy market day.

5. Bring lots of water to clean items in the booth. They provide sinks but it’s not always convenient to keep running back and forth to wash or rinse something.

6. How to make a crepe suzette!! (Damn good!)

Come stop by Crepes and Coffee at the Farmer’s Market on Victory (between Lindley and Balboa).  It is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Their Strawberry-Nutella and Chicken Pesto are to die for! Try it out for yourself. NOM NOM NOM!!

R.I.P. Title Industry: August 2000 to November 2009…

 Card from my unit… VERY sweet!

In the beginning of the semester, we had to do a 90 second elevator pitch  and one of the five business plans that was picked was my baby, Song’s Crepe Cafe (long term goal). As the weeks go on, trying to write a business plan in a 15 week period is killer and nearly impossible (other class work doesn’t help)!!! Dave, our mentor, from KLH Marketing has been a HUGE help! He really loves the idea and continues to encourage and guide us like a father would his child. He gave the pep in my step that I really needed tonight!

2009 has been filled with lots of changes! There are even more to come in the next couple months and year. I wanted to document every minute of it so I can look back and say, “Hey, I remember exactly WHEN that happened and WHERE that happened!”

To start… I just turned 30, quit my corporate job of 10 years and I’m starting my mobile notary and crepe business. At the end of next month, me and the love of my life are going to sign our domestic partnership papers. It’s all very exciting and new!

Thank you to all my friends and family who helped out with the Krampouz griddle! It’s like the Bentley of commercial gas griddles and my wallet couldn’t afford it alone. Who would’ve thought it would be sitting in my kitchen as I type?! Special thanks to my two favorite girls Cari and Rachel for being sneaky and orchestrating this purchase. Another reminder of the amazing people I have in my life. I’m glad everyone took part of this… I love you all!

By March of next year, I hope to have my booth up and running. Until then, I’m testing out recipes.
